Yemi Alade Biography
Yemi Alade is a Nigerian Afropop singer. Yemi Alade was born on 13th of March 1989, in Abia State to the former police commissioner named James Alade, who hails from the Yoruba lineage, and her mother is of Igbo origin Nigeria.
Out of the seven children of her parents, Yemi is the fifth in her family. In her early years, she attended the St. Savior British Primary School of which she later attended the Victory Grammar School, Lagos, for her high school. After her primary and secondary education, Yemi Eberechi Alade proceeded to the University of Lagos, where she studied Geography.
Yemi Alade made her music debut as a member of the girl group known as Noty Spices. Her rise to stardom came when she won The Peak Talent Show in 2009, after which she released her first single, entitled “Fimisile,” under Jus’ Kiddin record label.
In 2012, Yemi Alade signed to Effyzzie Music Group and released her single entitled “Ghen Ghen Love.” In July 2013, she released the video for her RnB Afro romantic song “Bamboo.”
Her hit song “Bamboo”, which was produced by Fliptyce, became a popular wedding song and was a moderate success. In the last quarter of 2013, she broke records by releasing her single “Johnny,” produced by Selebobo. The song was an international success and dominated the music charts in Tanzania, South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Liberia, Uganda and the United Kingdom, among others.
Yemi was featured on the covers of several magazines and shared the stage and the songs with other music bigwigs like Mary J. Blige, Becca, SSP, M.I and Yemi Sax. Not to rest on her laurels, Yemi has released several other exciting singles and her debut album.
